A House of Beautiful Business – Episode 1

The first episode of This Human Business begins with a difficult truth: Business, as it is most often practiced, is an ugly thing. This podcast seeks a higher ground, but can’t do so credibly without acknowledging how low the ground is from which we must climb.

To aspire to an authentically human business seems like an unreasonable goal to some. They claim that business can never achieve anything of true beauty, and protest that beauty and humanity aren’t the point of business – making money is. To accept the cause as hopeless, however, and surrender to the idea that business must be inherently ugly, is to give cover to those who argue that we shouldn’t expect anything better from the kings of commerce.

The people at the House of Beautiful Business believe that business can do better. This episode considers the efforts of the organization to redirect the onslaught of automation toward something more sublime.
